The white pine could grow 100 to 200 ft tall. During the late 1800s and early 1900s the timber was the prime choice for builders and contractors in the eastern United States. The Midwestern forests were becoming depleted so the lumbermen moved their operations to the Pacific Northwest where the virgin groves of White Pine were abundant.
