Loggers rolling cut logs into the flume on Skookum Creek in 1924. Usually the water was just deep enough in the flume to float the logs down to a larger body of water. Flume herders were men that kept the flumes running and fixed leaks. They would either ride a log or a small boat-like vessel down the flume to check for damage.
