The Clem Hotel had 130 rooms and mainly serviced members of Spokane's Asian community. Spokane's International District saw declining populations after the 1950s and when the city was preparing for Expo 74 most of the area was demolished to build parking lots. The Clem Hotel survived longer than other buildings in the area but was demolished in January of 1982 to make way for additional downtown parking.
