Urban tree canopies in Spokane are often at the higest concentractions in wealthy neighborhoods. Industrial districts suffer the worst from lack of trees, but poorer neighborhoods are a close second. Rentals, which were often one of the only options for black residents, played a large role in the the loss of urban canopy in impoverished neighborhoods like East Central.
